Adjust the size and spacing of your icons

By default, icons are 32x32 pixels in size and occupy 43x43 pixel space. You can easily adjust these settings by right clicking on the Windows Desktop and selecting "Properties | Appearance" tab. Icon size can be changed by selecting "Icon" from the "Item" drop-down list and the icon spacing can be changed by selecting "Icon spacing (horizontal)" / "Icon spacing (vertical)" items.

Speed-up the response of your Start Menu

  1. Run Registry Editor (regedit.exe in Windows 95 and regedt32.exe in Windows NT).
  2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
  3. Modify "MenuShowDelay" parameter to contain something from 2 to 20. If you don't see the MenuShowDelay parameter, add it as a string item and set the value.
